It’s been about a month since I wrote to you last, I’m still on the ship cruising the Mediterranean. Today we are in Naples, Italy and I’m going to Pompeii with some crew from the ship!
For those of you who don’t know about Pompeii, it was an ancient Roman city that was covered in ash from Mount Vesuvius when the volcano erupted in 79 A.D. Because of the coating of ash, the ancient city has been completely preserved and is being excavated by archaeologists. Only about a third of the magnificent city is uncovered so far, and it is a walk back in time (sounds like a song to me!)
Naples, the port city nearby is beautiful from afar, but to me, the city is not all that great. Their cappuccinos are to-die-for, but my favorite thing to do is to use the internet in the cruise ship terminal. Naples is known as the birthplace of pizza. While I have not yet tried their famed pizza, I’m pretty convinced from the pizza in Italy so far that I like Chicago-style deep dish better!
Oh and I forgot to add some photographs of my beautiful engagement ring!
